Acer Aspire 5 Slim Laptop

Due to its popularity and performance, this model is getting harder to find.

Its unbelievable performance at the bargain price was the main reason why most of the people just stuck to it.Acer Aspire 5 Slim Laptop

Its premium aesthetics hide its budget price in such a great way that no one can seriously judge its true price until you tell them your self.

Acer has taken care of all the details even the minor ones, the logo on its center is made of metal rising a bit above the rest of the lid flaring the premium look.

With a  pretty standard interior of sliver deck and black keyboard.

the Aspire 5 is quite thinner than its 14-inch competitor HP.

Aspire 5 weighs at 3.8 pounds and has 14.3 x 9.9 x 0.7 inches dimensions to shine.

15.6-inch panel is comparatively brighter than most, supports a full HD 1080p resolution something not common in the budget-friendly laptops.

According to a test performed Aspire 5’s panel covered only 65% of the sRGB color gamut, well below the 73% standard.

But when it comes to the brightness its 276nit brightness shines the screen like a diamond in the rough.

Aspire 5 hosts a fair amount of ports to give enhanced connectivity.

On the left side, you will find 1 power jack, 1 massive RJ45 Ethernet port, 1 HDMI port, 2 USB 3.1 ports (o1 that supports Poweroff charging) and 1 USB Type-C port.

And on the right, you get 1 Kensington lock slot, 1 USB 2.0 port along with 1 headphone jack.

Unfortunately, you do not get a card reader slot which many would miss especially if they are looking to use this machine for streaming videos.

Acer 5 offers a nicely placed keyboard with keys placed in a spacious and quite comfortable manner though they have manned to squeeze in a num pad too.

Performance and battery

Though it only hosts an AMD Ryzen 3 3200U Dual-Core Processor with 4GB DDR4 RAM  and  128GB SSD It outperforms many in the same category.

We gave it a grueling test with over 30 Chrome tabs 2 youtube videos and a video streaming all at the same time and we were quite happy with how it performed.

With a solid performing platform, it sure comes packed with a strong battery.

It clocked over 8 hours of time while giving it a rigorous web browsing on Wi-Fi.

Although hard to find yet it is available online

Its pros and cons are as below

  • Strong performance
  • Long-lasting battery
  • Affordable
  • Bright display
  • Graphics are a bit snappy
  • Built quality could have been better

Final verdict

For streaming movies smoothly you need all that it offers.

You can have a well-performing, bright screen machine in a budget that works for you.

Acer Chromebook R 13 Convertible

When it comes to budget laptops Acer aces the way.

Chromebooks have become one of the most viable options against MacBooks ad PC laptops. The only downside theirAcer Chromebook R 13 Convertible software limitations.

Its convertible Aluminium design that can easily be mistaken as a MacBookPro.

The full HD 1080 display rotates, display, tent and gets into a tablet position.

Its strong hinges let it shapeshift without a hindrance.

Chromebook R 13 weighs a meager 3.2 pounds and measures up to 0.6 inches thick only.

13.3-inch, 1080p panel shows crisp but with somehow compromised color and brightness levels.

While watching movies it showed its shortfalls and we missed a number of things especially the richness of colors and brightness that would have increased our experience.

We noticed that it only displays 64 percent of the sRGB spectrum.

R 13’s panel lives up to 254 nits brightness when measured, though not much still is more than the average for thin-and-light notebooks which usually stands at 244 nits.

Acer placed on the Chromebook’s left side 1 Type-C port, 1 HDMI port, 1 USB 3.0 port, and a microSD card reader and on the right it hosts 1 headphone jack and a lock slot.

The Type-C port is mainly for charging, but it can also support USB 3.1 data transfer.

Typing on the Acer R 13s keyboard is a surprisingly pleasant experience. You don’t have to hit the keys too hard to perform and the keys themselves are placed at a comfortable distance.

Performance and battery

R 13 houses a MediaTek MT8173C processor and 4GB RAM.

Not made for multitasking some would say.

And it was found that when you run a few of the tabs and a single video in the background the Chromebook holds well.

But while truly multitasking, It does fail you.

Compared to its performance the battery does A-ok.

It has enough juice to run for well over 11 hours with reasonable brightness and machine use.

You can order your machine online

For pros and cons consult below

  • Full HD display
  • For a Chromebook, it has an above-average performance
  • Affordable
  • Excellent battery life.
  • Flat and somewhat stuttered audio
  • Nonbacklit keyboard
  • Not enough USB-C ports

Final verdict

The Acer Chromebook R 13 is a good combination of a decently performing machine with a long-lasting battery.

Not for heavy multitasking but performs well for a daily work routine.

It is quite affordable and is an all-round option for those movie crazy die-hards.

Acer Aspire E 15 Laptop

Aser inspires designs and performance for those who look for a budget-friendly machine that doesn’t kill your bank Acer Aspire E 15 Laptopand performs decently at the same time.

It is big, heavy and definitely not easy on the eyes. It sounds more like a budget laptop! Well, that’s what it is.

Its black deck made of chunky plastic, with a brushed metal texture, tries to give it a failing premium look.

It is quite a basic and boring design except for the cross-etching on the gray lid and a hint of chrome trim around the touchpad.

Weighing in at 5 pounds and with 15 x 10.2 x 1.2 inches dimension, the Aspire E 15 is visibly larger and heavier than both the Acer Spin 3 and the Asus VivoBook Flip 14.

It comes with a 15.6-inch non-touch display.

It is quite sharp but unfortunately not a very colorful one.

1920 x 1080 full HD panel provides enough detail for anyone to make out all those military medals and ribbons and see those guns blazing in quite a detail.

Reproducing only 62.3 percent of the sRGB color gamut it gives out maximum brightness of 227 nits.quite in line with the standard of those budget laptops in the market.

The right side of the laptop makes you remember the golden old days of laptops when they use to hot a bundle of ports featuring 1 USB 2.0 port and an 8X DVD-RW double-layer drive.

They found space for a headphone jack and a power connector too.

And on the left, you get 1 USB-3.1 Type-C port, 1 Ethernet port, 1 VGA input, 1 HDMI port, 2 USB 3.0 ports and1Kensington lock.

SD Card reader is placed at the front left edge of the laptop.

It comfortable to use but keys could have more precisely placed and could have a better response rate.

Although even with the numb pad in place it is not hard to type things can be improved.

Performance and Battery

Armed with 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U, GeForce MX1502 GB GDDR5VRAM GPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD.

It looks like a heavy Russian truck built for endurance and performance but not to flirt with. And it sure does perform like one.

10 tabs and a 1080 youtube movie ran well only started to slow down when we doubled the load and streamed movies straight from the website.

Its Battery ran straight for 11 hours that’s a big advantage any machine has. It surpasses any workday length and still keeps the lights on.

Can be ordered online

Pros and cons are as below

  • Affordable
  • A large number of connectivity ports
  • Excellent battery life.
  • Heavier than the rest of the lot
  • Poorly designed
  • Cheap plastic built.

Final verdict

If you don’t mind the grandpa’s era design machine with a reasonable performance under a low budget. You got your perfect match.

Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM

You usually have to live with dull, low lit, mediocre kind of built machine if you are looking for a low budget Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM 15.6-Inchlaptop. But Acer’s Aspire E15 lits up the sky for all those shallow pocketed users.

A dark-gray, matte lid with a crosshatch pattern, texture, and a sturdy black plastic built is offered by the Acer in less than $400 price tag.

The notebook has a solid build quality, and it doesn’t crumble even under pressure form high performance.

At 10.2 x 1.5 x 1.2 inches and 5.06 pounds, the E 15 E5-575-33BM looks a bit bulky but not bad.

Hard to find a 1920 x 1080 full Hd display at such price range, It has vibrant tones and on the brightness aspect, the Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM, unfortunately, registered only 215 nits well below the 276-nit average for this category.

Its left side hosts 1 enormous Ethernet port,2 USB 3.0 connectors, 1HDMI, 1 VGA-out and 1 USB Type-C 3.1 port which works well with data but doesn’t charge.

On the right, you find a DVD drive, 1 USB port, and 1 3.5mm audio jack.

The front lip houses the SD card reader.

It has a comfortable and stable keypad which works fine.

Performance and Battery

its Core i3-7100U CPU, 4GB of RAM and 1TB 5,400-rpm hard drive are made for light multitasking purposes.

You do not expect it to perform as some of the other high-end, high ticket machines.

But it stays with you and gets the job done.

Its battery lasted 8 hours and 16 minutes, long enough for anyone to find a power source and continue working.

It is available online with ease.

Please find below the pros and cons

  • Colorful Full Hd display
  • Long-lasting battery
  • A DVD drive and plenty of ports
  • Grainy webcam
  • Narrow viewing angles

Final Verdict

It’s a light multitasking but a good performance machine. It is solidly built and affordable.

Acer Chromebook R 11 Convertible Laptop

Chromebooks come in all sizes and shapes.

They can instantly turn from clamshell to tablet giving you the pleasure of owning the same at the same time. Acer Chromebook R 11 Convertible Laptop

Featuring clean, elegant black chassis and a diamond pattern on the top and bottom of the casing.

Acer claims the lid is of Aluminium but its flexes when used carelessly.

At 11.6 x 8.03 x 0.76 inches and 2.7 pounds, the R 11 is a compact machine that fits in a carry bag and you can take it anywhere.

R 11’s 1366 x 768 touch-screen display is colorful but could have been a bit brighter.

At 224 nits it is dimmer than most of its competitors.

On the left side, it has the DC-in jack for power, 1 HDMI, 1 USB 3.0 port and 1 SD card slot.

Whereas the right side hosts headphone/mic jack, 1 USB 2.0 port,1 lock slot, and the power button.

It is spacious well-balanced and well placed. It is comfortable to work for longer durations.

Performance and battery

Celeron N3060CPU, 4GB DDR3L, 32GB doesn’t pack much of the firepower into its hood.

It switches between tasks quite fairly quickly but when the load gets a bit higher it sure does lag the power to perform accordingly.

Like other Chromebooks, its battery is built to last. R 11 lasted above 9 hours in our test which is impressive by any means.

It is available online

The pros and cons are given below

  • Colorful display
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Affordable
  • Lid is unreliable
  • Grainy webcam
  • Low Battery life than others.
  • Now we shift to Microsoft

Microsoft Surface Book 2

The surface book was welcomed by the tech community and it did live up to its expectations last time around. Its Microsoft Surface Book 2 flexibility and do anything capability made it a favored device.

It doesn’t disappoint this time either. It is powerful enough to edit the video in the laptop mode and is strong enough to draw or take notes while used as a tablet.

From the outside, it has changed much and takes the lead from its predecessor.

It maintains its signature detach from the main body to become a tablet trick. It still features the same gray magnesium along with a reflective Windows logo stamped on its lid.

Keeping with the tradition this version of the surface book doesn’t close also.

Detaching the lid leaves you with 3:2, 13.5-inch, 3000 x 2000 PixelSense display.

Deck and keyboard are made of the same, clean, gray plastic and serve the purpose of attracting your vision to the screen.

At 3.6 pounds and 12.3 x 9.1 x 0.9 inches dimensions, the Surface Book 2 is quite larger than other 13-inch laptops of the same category.

It features a 13.5-inch, 3000 x 2000 PixelSense display, it is crisp, sharp and full of life.

Watching 4K movies on this screen is a treat where you can distinguish and make out of the finner details.

The Surface Book 2 produced 374 nits brightness, far higher than the average 289 nits in its league.

Surface Book hosts quite a number of ports on both its right and left and one on its bottom of the tablet to let it charge independently too.

On the left side, you find a pair  USB 3.1 ports and an SD card reader, and the right side hosts 1 USB Type-C port and a Microsofts very own Surface Connect port.

It is disappointing to witness that shallow keyboard at first. But surprisingly it’s lag-free and comfortable to work on. You don’t get tired easily and can maintain a good typing speed.

Performance and Battery

With an Intel Core i7-8650U CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 GPU with 2GB of VRAM, the Surface Book 2 hides plenty of multitasking power in its hood.

In one test 25 tabs browsing the web a full brightness youtube video and heavy software were all used at the same time and we didn’t notice lag in the switching or the performance.

With its base attached Microsoft surface runs the whole day long and even then it has some juice left. Clocking above 13 hours of battery time.

You can order it conveniently online.

Below are its pros and cons.

  • Great performance
  • Rich colors and vivid display
  • Amazing graphics
  • PredatorSense for better control over the machine
  • No PWM for PWM sensitive people.
  • Expensive
  • No Thunderbolt-3
  • Data transfer  speed needs to be taken care of

Final verdict

It isn’t cheap but it outperforms any other competitor in both the design and performance.

You won’t be disappointed to own this device and will benefit from its superior abilities.

Now we have Asus

>Asus Vivobook 15 Thin and Light Laptop

It is a machine purpose-built to please the new generation. It is made for young adults. So it cant be boring and it Asus Vivobook 15 Thin and Light Laptopcant lose the colors.

Asus Vivobook looks out of the league with moss-green lid and neon-orange accents. Asus has absolutely nailed its design.

Asus went a step further with the design and the color combination.

It strikes a green moss lid but if you don’t like it you can always replace it.

Punk Pink or more traditional but rather boring transparent silver lids are on offer too from Asus.

Asus has never been shy of the designs that are not adopted by the others.

VivoBook S15’s 15-inch display and the solid aluminum lid is surrounded by really thin bezels.

VivoBook S15 is surely compact with 14.1 x 9.1 x 0.7 inches dimensions but is not the lightest of its class with 3.8 Pounds weight.

Its 15.6-inch, 1080p display is surrounded by the really thin bezels but unfortunately, the fun stops there and its display isn’t any better than the dull screen than its previous one.

I was really disappointed to see how bad it really is when I streamed my favorite movie on it and the colors were all dull and without the detail.

Sadly VivoBook S15’s display covers only 61% of the sRGB color gamut and it produced 252 nits brightness. Which is not in line with the standard at all.

We missed the Thunderbolt Port badly on this model.  It houses 2 ancient and almost now obsolete USB 2.0 ports on the left side.

While the right side houses1 USB 3.1 Type-A port, 1 USB-C input, 1 HDMI, a microSD card slot and a headphone/mic jack.

Asus’ ErgoLift hinge, which tilts up the back of the keyboard by 3 degrees for a more comfortable typing experience is surely a unique feature to have. Keys are nicely placed and contain a full number pad on its side.

Performance and Battery

Our unit featured MD Quad-Core R5-3500U CPU, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 128GB SSD, and a 1TB HDD, AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics with Windows 10 Home.

That’s enough arsenal for any kind of test that you may put it through.

In a test, it was quick to load a number of Google Chrome tabs, 4 of them streaming 1080p videos. With all that going  I was still able to shit between the tabs without any lag.

VivoBook S15 lasted only a little over 7 hours on a rigorous web browsing on the Wi-Fi test.

It is available online.

The pros and cons are listed below.

  • Sleek design
  • Overall impressive performance
  • Improved screen pad
  • Dull display
  • Screen-pad still is not fast enough
  • Battery life needs to be improved.

Final verdict

It is a sleek machine with overall satisfactory performance but lacks the long-lasting battery and its dull screen holds it back.

Let’s check out Lenovo

Lenovo Flex 4 2-in-1 Laptop

Lenovo has been in the market for long but looks as if they have innovated themselves enough. Lenovo Flex 4 2-in-1 Laptop

Unlike others in the same price range or in the same market, Lenovo doesn’t take your heart with design.

It features the same old plastic black-gray design which doesn’t let you distinguish between it any many others.

It has a matte Onyx black shell with metallic gray hinges.

Flex 4’s unique hinge and touchscreen display make the screen flip the whore  360 degrees, so you can select what you want to do and how you want it to happen.

You can switch between the laptop, stand, tablet and tent whichever way you desire.

Weighing at 3.8 pounds and 0.82 inches thin, the Flex 4 is sleeker than its previous generation.

14-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) display brilliantly equipped with 10-point multitouch yields. Featuring the bright, detailed but not great for playing games.

It sure does bring out the vibrant rich colors but does not support hardcore gaming.

FHD IPS matte touch-enabled display provides a spectacular display especially for the movies and, thanks to IPS technology, you get an amazing viewing angle almost close to 180 degrees.

It produces 236 nits brightness, well below the 305 category average.

It features 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, 1 HDMI, 1 COMBO audio jack and 1 SD/HC/XC card, reader.

Its keyboard offers a solid typing experience.  Flex 6’s 4.1 x 2.7-inch touchpad tracks the input quite accurately.

Performance and battery

6th Generation Intel Core I chipsets and Windows 10was not that up to the task.

It stuttered and lagged when the heavy load of web browsing was put on it and it lagged when we put the videos and streamed the movies at the same time along with 14 chrome tabs.

The positive thing is you can easily upgrade the hardware.

The battery doesn’t last 7 hours it gives in at around 6 hours and 30 minutes so you need to keep that charger close by.

You can have this device by ordering online easily.

We are listing the pros and cons below

  • Great graphics
  • Solid performance
  • Immersive keyboard
  • Dim lit display
  • Not an impressive battery life.

Final verdict

At a reasonable price, It is a well-performing laptop, especially for streaming videos.

In the same price range, we bring an older model of Dell for you.

Dell Inspiron 15.6

It stands as a living proof that you can stream all your Netflix and Hulu and amazon primes on a dream price Dell Inspiron 15.6machine. It may not be the one which turns head in a party ut it works just fine.

It has a no-nonsense simplistic rather caveman old design. Dell has kept its focus on the performance, not the looks. Its gray cover and the black bezel is a so last century tradition.

You can take it to a professional meeting or you can use it at home It performs and that’s where the heads start turning.

It has a mostly plastic body with a high glossy cover. The palm rest and surrounding area are covered in brushed aluminum. That support and keep the palm cool.

Even if you try to find you won’t see the usual flaws that are quite visible in other plastic built budget laptops.

Weighing at 5.2-pound and having the 15.4 x 10.2 x 0.92 inches dimensions, Inspiron 15 is not unusually large or heavy for its class.

There is no doubt that its biggest attraction is its 15.6inch Full HD touchscreen.

Keeping in view its price I was expecting a dull screen sim display and compromised viewing angles.

But to my pleasant surprise, It has one of the most vibrant color hosting display and the viewing experience was equally good.

Inspiron’s screen can rack in  72 percent of the sRBG color gamut.  While its 213-nit display panel is the brightest in its class and it is even better than Aspire E5.

You will find ample ports for your connectivity.

On the left side, there is the power plug, 1 Ethernet port, 1 full-size HDMI, 2 USB 3.0s and1 combo audio-mic jack.

While the right side is occupied by a DVD drive, a device lock, a USB 2.0 port, and 1 full-size SD card slot.

It’s easy to start enjoying the typing experience on the Inspiron’s island-style backlit keyboard but I won’t recommend it for a longer duration of use.

It has well placed but stiff keys that start to grow on you when you use it for a longer period.

Performance and battery

Powered by a 2.5-GHz Intel Core i5-7200U CPU, 8GB RAM, and 1TB SATA hard drive. It is well built to perform.

I put it to the test by simultaneously running multiple browser tabs, streaming a long duration HD youtube video, using the email, Microsoft Word and saving data on Google Drive and much more.

Switching between them regularly and it was like Dell just welcomed all of it with open arms.

Having said so much about the performance I will always keep the battery charger in my sight because it drains the battery within 4 hours and 30 minutes and that too at reduced brightness.

If you are performance-hungry and not just into looks you can order your laptop online.

Let’s discuss its Pros and cons

  • Smooth running
  • Solid performance
  • Great viewing angles
  • Miserable battery life
  • Stiff keyboard
  • Speakers not at par.

Final Verdict

The Dell Inspiron has many positives such as a bright touch screen, Windows 3d Camera, and a  great price but its miserable battery life breaks the deal.

But if you are into the performance more than looks you better have this in your bag.
