A laptop is your companion and you sure need a good one to accompany you for the coming few years.
Recommending a suitable laptop use to be easy but not anymore.
There are a number of big names and a wide variety of machines available in the market.
From Apple to Dell and Hp to Acer all are in competition for your bucks.
Let’s start looking in detail for all our available options.
We start with Apple’s Macbook.
Here is the list of best laptop for law school
Apple, as we all know, is a lot more than just a laptop. It’s your style statement also. But thanks to rising prices and other companies making themselves better. Apple has lost some of its lusters.
the new MacBook Air s a joy to own. Its battery life, its bright, crisp Retina display featuring Apple’s True Tone display technology and its gold colorway is slick for sure.
Slim wedged machined aluminum, the Airbook has stuck to its iconic and easily recognized look. Although the other gold look variant is available we tried the most preferred silver one. Aside from silver Apple’s Macbook Air is sold in Spacegray and the gold variant also.
13 inch MacBook Air is a bit heavier than the DellXPS 13 weighing at 2.8 pounds.
The MacBook Air is equipped with Apple’s True Tone display technology taking into account the ambient lighting thus adjusting to your surroundings.
The MacBook Air’s panel provides 343 nits brightness, quite in line with that 346 premium laptop average.
Clearly displaying the white linens to rich colored ceremonial barns and yellow sunflowers in the fields. Watching the movies on this display is a treat in itself. High-res solid color reproduction is MacBook Air’s quality.
Apple’s USB-C-only provision is frustrating at times. But MacBook Air compensates with dual Thunderbolt 3 ports on its port side, and you can charge the MacBook Air through one of them.
The MacBook Air has the same keyboard as on Apple’s MacBook Pros, which is a bit shallow and clicky but provides a decent typing experience at the same time.
Having a Y-Series Intel Core i5-8210Y CPU with 8GB of RAM under the hood, the 2019 MacBook Air is almost at par with 2018 MacBook Air in performance
- It’s powerful enough to run the whole day long so if you lose your charger at home you shouldn’t get too worried.
- In some tests, it has been observed that the MacBook Air’s battery has lasted around 9 hours.
- It is available online
- Clear, crisp and high-res
- Clear and strong sound
- Elegant and stylish
- Performance is not what you might expect
- Only USB-C ports
- Shallow and clinky keyboard.
If you are into style and can live with somewhat downgraded performance You might love to own this machine. It’s great for movies and visually related work.
But if you are heavy on typing you need either another machine or need to connect another keyboard.
It’s a great machine but lacks in the hardcore performance department.
It runs on a Chrome OS that supports our life as we live it.
The Acer Chromebook 11 is the non-convertible version from the Acer’s Chromebook R11, basically loading you with
new gimmicks on the same trusted platform.
Acer Chromebook has been around for a few years now and they have been making it better ever since.
Acer has made it possible to turn a blunt boring design to stand out.
Elegant white exterior decorated with a micro-diamond pattern etched into its cover providing an extra steady grip.
With the 2 aluminum hinges, it really looks out of this world on any non-white background. Plastic might turn you off for a while but its performance makes you forget that minor visual undertaking.
Weighing 2.4 pounds and at 11.7 x 7.8 x 0.7 inches ChromeBook is thinner, lighter and more affordable than most others.
The 11.6-inch, 1366 x 768 matte display is not as crisp as I would have liked, but the colors and brightness makes up for that too.
Its quite dim at 223 nits brightness and while its matte panel helps to combat the glare it still isn’t up to the standard and ranks well low than the 250 nit brightness category.
For an affordable laptop Acers Chromebook 11 has a decent number of ports.
1 Thunderbolt 3 port with power delivery on the port side (left side), one USB 3.0 port, a microSD slot and a headphone/microphone combo jack all here to serve you the best way possible.
On the right side, we have a Kensington lock slot, 1 Thunderbolt 3 port, and 1 USB 3.0 port.
The keys on the Acer Chromebook 11 are shallow and they push back without being pressed fully,
Keys contain decent spacing, and though the keyboard is not positioned very deep the palm rests quite impressively comfortable.
It is a solid multitasker with a 1.1-GHz dual-core Intel Celeron N3350 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of eMMC storage and an Intel HD 500 graphics card It has enough juice to keep an eye on different tasks at the same time.
Based on the Chrome OS it leverages the PLaystore to fill your browser with all that you need.
Battery and webcam
- Battery wise it is a survivor. It works with you even in the extended timings. You have a long day at work or school Its there for you.
- In some tests, it is been found that after working on Wifi at full brightness It lasted more than 9 hours that is pretty impressive by any means.
- The webcam has an overall grainy and somewhat poor quality lacking detail. But I have seen worse and when compared it isn’t that bad.
It comes with a 1year limited warranty.
It is available online easily
Please find below the pros and cons of this product
- Classy design
- Good battery life
- Shallow keyboard
- Distorted Audio
- Andriod apps don’t perform so well.
- It is a serious multi-tasker machine and performs really outstanding.
- It is an overall good choice and gets you through the day without any problem.
Now we look to
Unlike many other Chromebooks if you want a wider screen why not opt for Acers 15.6” HD WLED.
It is a big screen by design made for the streaming videos and thus packs a peak performing machine under the hood.
Silver metal exterior with Acer’s logo on it is maybe the one you need to take with you to that Law school.
Let’s go into the details,
It has a big wide 15.6” screen. By looking at it you know its made for movies and pictures.
When you open the lid the first thing you notice is that big screen and those speakers on the sides of the palm rest.
And yes its all-metal no cheap plastic anywhere visible. So it is one solid slab of metal that you carry in your bag. The Acer logo with mirror finish it attracts you instantly.
Bigger is better and it surely is in this case. The bigger screen keeps u engaged at all levels. A bit heavier at 3.7 pounds weight.
It surely has a bigger footprint with Its 14.9 x 10.1 x 0.8 inches dimensions. It sure looks and is bigger than the other chrome books who mostly have 12 or 13 “ of screens.
At 15.6” it sure is big and I know you won’t find many others in that screen size/
Its 1080 screen display is not particularly very bright or for that matter colorful.
It records only a disappointing 215 nit of brightness on the light meter. Acer could have done better in that department.
Acer’s Chromebook covers only a mere 69 percent of the sRGB color gamut, far less than the average 79 percent.
By now we know that Chromebooks don’t get equipped with tons of ports but whatever is available is practical and working.
Each side has a USB-C Type port and USB 3.0 port.
Kingston lock slot on the left side and a micro Sd card slot with the head jack on the right side are also provided.
There is this solid performing and durable keypad. Requires some force to properly press the keys that make sure you have done it correctly.
When you start using it you notice that its spacious gives more room to your fingers and keys react perfectly.
Chrome Books are made for browsing and research so they need to have a keypad that doesn’t give in on its owner.
The Acer Chromebook 15 packs a quad-core Intel Pentium N4200 CPU, 4GB RAM, 32GB of internal flash storage.
That is more than enough for simple tasks, like word processing, browsing streaming videos.
Chrome is a lightweight OS and the majority of it is the chrome web browser. It does support apps from the google play store but somehow they seem to put a strain on it.
Battery and webcam
- Chrome book doesn’t let you down and works with you for almost the whole day long.
- In on test with continuously browsing the web, streaming videos at full brightness. It clocked more than 9 hours. Which is indeed a pretty good time. Though it is a bit than the average still not bad at all.
- Chromebook’s 720p webcam is quite ok for the job but could have been better with its brightness.
- Acers Chromebook comes with 1 years warranty.
- You can have your 15.6 inch Chromebook by ordering online.
Pros and cons are as below
- Metal chassis
- 1080 pixel
- Solid and a spacious keyboard.
- Dim display
- If used for extended periods heavily can lag in performance.
Next in line is
An 11-inch convertible that has a very balanced blend of almost 10 hours long battery, HDMI port and at a very affordable price.
Chromebooks are a good option for those who live online. But either the weak processor or the cheap build or a terrible screen.
The Lenovo Chromebook C330 is set to change all of it.
Though it is kind of a bit pricy for the budget laptop market yet it has features that justify that hiked price.
If we see it in detail. You will realize how good is this device.
The satin white paint on the rugged plastic surface gives it a premium look.
Its matte finished plastic casing is cleverly designed and Lenovo succeeded in making it look like a barbie doll.
It is plastic and plastic all over. Nicely crafted for a premium look. It makes you think about it.
The glossy black bezel is somewhat discomforting to eyes resembling the ribbon in those old VHS tapes we all use to love.
It’s a bit heavier the Acers Chromebook but is defiantly more stylish and sleeker. It’s about 0.8 inches thick and 2.8 pounds in weight.
You sure have seen better displays than the Lenovo C330 has to offer.
It can distort pixels and can blur much of the detail but that’s a common problem you may find in 11.6 inches 1366 x 768 resolution screens.
Similar complaints about variants of the same screen have been voiced also.
The Chromebook C330 ends up producing 250 nits brightness, narrowly topping the 233-nit average. It picks up the glare and reflection from the surroundings.
It has most of its port located on the left side such as for charging the USB-C type port, HDMI, USB 3.0 and the SD memory card reader.
On the right side, you get 1 head jack, up and down buttons for power and volume and a security lock slot.
It is not much you can do with Lenovo’s C330 with MediaTek MT8173C processor (with 4GB of RAM) Audio has that infamous stuttering issue.
Because of its poor performance and inability to multitask. You would not want to own one just because of the looks.
Battery and webcam
- It has a long-lasting battery life that lasts longer than an average workday. That is a very positive aspect of this laptop.
- In some tests, it has been observed that web surfing at 150 nit brightness it clocked almost around 10 hours before giving in.
- That is way above average and makes it an optimum choice if you need a laptop that goes on and on.
- 0.9 Mp webcam is defiantly not enough and it is quite sensitive so sensitive in fact that even the slight changes make a huge difference.
- The solution to it is to have as much light in front of you and as little as possible at the back so as to get the best result.
It offers lots of endurance and stability but lacks the power to multitask so if you are only focused on one thing at a time this is of your choice.
Finally, we present to you
Apple among others stands as a style icon and for most people, it is more of a style and status statement than an actual machine.
It is disappointing to see that Apple didn’t upgrade its design for this one. You are in no way able to differentiate between this and the older version.
Though inside it is 2.2GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 Processor with turbo boosting it to 3.2 GHz.
It was the most sort after design a few years or maybe a decade back but now everyone is in the league of metal design getting thinner by the day.
And another thing it is kinda heavy 2.96 pounds makes it heavier than the others in the basket.
MacBook’s 1440 x 900-pixel screen has aged like an old man in its sixties.
Lacking the full Hd and vibrant colors it looks like a relic from the cold war.
Apple seriously needs to upgrade this device immediately and add features like Ratina-level or full HD screen.
Because after extended use the text on the screen started to blur for me and my eyes were never that tired on the other devices.
It contains 2 USB 3 ports, Thunderbolt 2 port, MagSafe2 power port, an SDXC card slot.
Though inside it is 2.2GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 Processor with turbo boosting it to 3.2 GHz,
It makes it the best performing machine among its competitors.
You can play, you can stream videos and multi-task with ease and if it is not for the old fashioned display I am sure people interested in this market would have flocked to Apple.
You can order it online
We list the pros and cons as below
- Long battery life
- Amazing keyboard
- Convenient power charging port
- Heavier than the other in the same market
- The screen display is not up to date.
If you are a performance junkie and don’t mind the screen you are working on, This is your best option in the market. You can multitask with ease and can still have enough left in the machine to do that text processing which you need so badly.
